About Us
Our institution is a traditional & most renowned one, which is situated in the L.M. Ghosh Street, opposite of Police Line, near the Bus-stand. The Institution is like a family to everyone belonging to itself. Apart from education it is oriented to many co-curricular activities. Genuine information about the foundation or the founders of this Institute is 1906.It was established before the independence of the country in Dacca in Bangladesh. Later it was transferred to Siuri ( Birbhum) and then in 1965 to Krishnagar , Nadia .Till 1991 it was a Senior Teachers’ Training Institute. From 1992 onwards it became Primary Teachers’ Training Institute. In 2012 two years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EL.ED.) is introduced to this institution and it has been carried on till date. Student intake capacity of the institute is 50(part I) +50(part II).The institute is fully Government institute under Govt. of West Bengal and also affiliated by West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) and recognized by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE). The medium of instruction is Bengali.
Our History
Students who are real treasures come from various districts of West Bengal. Excellence in education is the priority of the institution as well as many cultural activities are performed during current session i.g. Republic Day, Rabindra Jayanti ,Rabindra Prayan , Freshers’ welcome, Fare Well, Independence Day , Teachers’ Day , Sharod Utsab etc. Annual Sports is a mandatory part of the institution, generally occurred in the month of December- January in every year.

As a Government Primary Teachers’ Training Institute, recognized by NCTE and affiliated to West Bengal Board of Primary education, we try our best to implement the goals and objectives for teacher education, set by NCTE, Department of School Education, Government of West Bengal and West Bengal Board of Primary education. Our mission is to provide the trainees adequate learning environment and necessary opportunities for professional skill development to enable themselves to effectively contribute to quality education.
